Wallfields goes globalIntroductionThe arrival of high tech web casting equipment means everyone can now follow Council meetings from the comfort of their own homes. Residents now no longer need to come to Wallfields to follow the discussion and decisions because we've installed web casting equipment in the Council Chamber at Wallfields. Anyone can switch on their home computer and watch the proceedings either in real time or as an archived recording. We're now broadcasting some public meetings, including Development Control and Council meetings but coverage may be broadened over time. Cllr Michael Tindale, executive member for resources and internal support said: "This is an exciting development and provides an excellent opportunity for the council to engage with the community. Webcasting will improve customer service by providing residents with access to council decisions from the comfort of their homes. "Its important that we are transparent and democratic in the way that we operate and web casting is a great way for people to find out about what goes on in the council at their own leisure. "As technology continues to develop and more and more people are accessing information through the internet, we need to be able to provide access to council information in the way that suits them." |
