Works in Hertford stop for Christmas

Improvement works in the centre of Hertford will take a Christmas break to allow our residents and businesses to enjoy the festive season without disruption.

The improvements, funded by East Herts Council, Hertford Town Council and Hertfordshire LEP, to Maidenhead Street and The Wash will be completed this weekend, with the final works taking place on Bull Plain in the New Year.

Works so far have included re-paving Maidenhead Street to improve the look of the road and to bring it in line with the rest of the town centre, creating a circular feature in the paving to highlight the library and raising the crossing at The Wash to make it more obvious for pedestrians and drivers. All of which have received great feedback from shoppers and businesses in the area.

A further update on the final works to Bull Plain will be shared in the New Year.
