New Opportunity: Chief Executive Vacancy

Welcome from the Leader of East Herts Council

East Herts has come a long way in a short time.  We have an ambitious capital programme and take our role in creating vibrant communities and exceptional places very seriously.  We are driven, determined and relentlessly positive.  Our recent peer review (report to be finalised by LGA in January) recognised that we have built incredibly strong partnerships and are well respected both within Hertfordshire and the region.  We are a partner of choice.

We also play a key role in areas that we feel passionately about.  We have just agreed our second Health and Wellbeing Strategy, and have a very active group of councillors who support the delivery of key parts of this strategy.  Having adopted our local plan in October, we are now focused on ensuring that we build strong new communities through exceptionally designed homes that are sustainable and 'future-proofed' - whilst working hard to get the best outcomes for our existing residents as they face the challenges of growth.

Our capital programme reflects our ambition - two new leisure centres, a theatre extension and a bold town centre regeneration scheme which includes an arts and entertainment centre, retail, commercial and residential space, set in exemplar public realm.  But we are also passionate about our day-to-day service delivery, which is at the heart of what we do.

I have worked closely with our outgoing chief executive and her leadership team over the last three years to develop these projects and I am looking for another innovative and inspirational chief executive who will lead us on the next stage of our journey.  You will give our people the freedom to step up and be bold, and you'll support them when they make mistakes.  You'll be resilient and hard-working, but you'll also have a sense of fun.  We had unanimous feedback from our peer review that people enjoy working at East Herts and find it an incredibly supportive environment.  That's really important to me, and if it sounds like the sort of place you'd like to work then I do hope you'll apply.
