Shared ownership housing fair

Drop in and have a chat to housing associations about homes available for shared ownership across East Herts at East Herts Council's housing fair on Saturday March 2 at Wodson Park Sports & Leisure Centre, Ware.

Shared ownership is a tried-and-tested way of buying your own home when property prices would otherwise be out of reach. You have to meet a fraction of the purchase price with a mortgage and pay rent on the difference between the full price and what you pay.  In some instances this can work out cheaper than renting and has the benefit of security of tenure.

Housing associations will be presenting a range of brand new homes and resales available now in Hertford, Bishop's Stortford, Buntingford and the villages for people living or working in East Herts. They'll also be showcasing upcoming properties.

Confirmed housing associations include:

-          Network Homes

-          Clarion

-          English Rural Housing

-          Sage

-          Origin Housing

-          Hightown

Free initial advice from financial advisors and solicitors will be available at the housing fair so you can get an immediate feel for whether this is the right option for you.

Jan Goodeve, executive member for housing, said: "We know that house prices are high in East Herts and being able to afford a home is a struggle for many residents.

"The housing fair will provide an opportunity for people to find out how it can be made a little easier for them."

It's on Saturday March 2, 10am-2pm at Wodson Park Sports & Leisure Centre, Ware SG12 0UQ. There are four bus stops in easy reach. Visit www.wodsonpark.com for details. Onsite parking is available too.
