Hartham play area needs your imagination

East Herts Council (EHC) would like to hear your thoughts on the redevelopment of Hartham play area.

Come along to the play area on Wednesday 31 July between 11am-2pm. you will have the opportunity to speak to community charity Groundwork Hertfordshire (the design and build contractor), representatives from EHC and members of the Hertford Playground Alliance (HPA), who will be working together to redesign the play area, as well as enjoy taking part in several fun activities.

The council is working with the HPA to help increase funds for the redevelopment of the park through a crowd funding initiative which will launch on the same day.

The aim is to create a fun and varied play area with inclusive equipment and different landscapes to capture the imagination. This will include features that take inspiration from the rivers and woodland in the park and will include seating and picnic areas for fun, family days out.

Eric Buckmaster, executive member for wellbeing, East Herts Council, said:

"We have been working with HPA to make sure local children are at the heart of our plans and to help us ensure the wider community is involved in the development of the design. This new play space has the potential to be a destination for the town and a great place for families to enjoy time and time again.

We would encourage all those interested in this development to get involved by sharing their thoughts with us on the plans."

HPA said: "We are excited for local families to view the new designs while providing key input and feedback. We're very much looking forward to a fun-filled afternoon in the park alongside Groundwork and EHC and are hoping for a great community turn out."

Following this event and the survey, plans will be refined in readiness for the planning application to be submitted. The build is scheduled to start spring/summer 2020.
