Bulky Rubbish Collection
Normally this will be a piece of furniture, white goods, such as fridges, freezers and dishwashers and mattresses.
Please note we do not collect fixtures and fittings such as carpets, windows and doors. These items should be taken to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre (Tip).
If you have employed a builder or plumber they should remove their own waste. For a large amount of items please hire a skip. We as a Council are unable to recommend any particular private company in these instances.
Please think about a reusable option such as donating to charity or offering to well known second hand websites before considering this service.
Book a Bulky Waste Collection
To book a bulky waste collection, please contact us on 01279 655261 and choose the option for refuse and recycling.
You will need to advise us if your items include upholstered furniture, as these may need to be collected on a separate day to any other items. Due to new requirements from the Environment Agency we are no longer able to collect soft furnishings alongside other bulky waste items. You can still have these items collected by us but if you have a mixture of soft furnishings and non-soft furnishing you will need to split these into two collections and pay for two collections. Please be aware these collections may not occur on the same day.
Please have to hand a list of the items you would like collected and a credit or debit card.
From 1st April 2024 there is a flat charge of £55.86 for up to six items of non- soft furnished waste or £55.86 for up to six items of soft furnished waste.
Please also note we will only be able to successfully carry out a bulky waste collection where there is a clear, unobstructed route directly from the point of pick up to the nearest road.
If there is a chance this may not be the case, we strongly recommend making us aware of this when booking your collection. If you need to cancel your booking, you will be issued with a refund minus an admin fee of £13.65. However, please be aware, we are unable to issue a refund if the request is made within 48 hours of your scheduled collection.
In all collections, the chosen item(s) will need to be outside at the front of your property by 7am on the day of collection. You must inform us of all items requiring collection at the time of booking, as it is not always possible to amend these later.
