Environmental Health Fees and Charges

Each year the Environmental Health team reviews its fees and charges to ensure they are in line with the Council's Fees and Charges Strategy.

The table below details the main fees and charges for services offered by the Environmental Health service up to the 31st March 2024.

**Skin piercing registration (acupuncture, tattooing, ear piercing and electrolysis)**

Registration for skin piercing (fixed premises)	£252.00	This fee is to register a single skin piercing business.
Registration for skin piercing (operator) - when registered at the time of premises registration	£14.00	This fee is to register a single skin piercing operative, when registered at the same time as a premises registration. All people undertaking skin piercing activities need to be registered.
Registration for skin piercing (operator) - when registered after / independently of premises registration	£181.50	This fee is to register a single skin piercing operative, if not registered at the same time as a premises registration. All people undertaking skin piercing activities need to be registered.
Registration for peripatetic skin piercing (mobile)	£264.00	This fee is to register a single peripatetic skin piercing business.
Minor update to an existing skin piercing registration.	£88.00	This fee is for a minor update to an existing registration which does not need a site visit. If a site visit is needed, see registration of premises and/or person cost.

**Animal activities licences**

Grant or renewal cost of one licensable activity *	£507.00	Fee for one licensable activity. Vet fees will be recharged after the inspection.
Grant or renewal cost per additional licensable activity *	£267.00	Fee for each additional licensable activity when applied for at the same time. Vet fees will be recharged after the inspection.
Additional charge for hiring of horses. Charge per horse.	£14.00
Additional annual inspection fee for the hiring of horses, where a renewal inspection is not due (plus hiring of horses additional charge above) *	£243.00	Invoiced annually after each inspection.
Minor variation of a current licence *	£121.00	Fee is per variation application made and applies if no site visit is required.
Variation of a current licence *	£274.00	Fee is per variation application made and applies if a site visit is required.
Re-evaluation of licenced premises star rating *	£375.00	This is the cost per re-evaluation. Star ratings could go up or down following the re-inspection, depending on the inspector’s finding.

**HMO licensing (new applications)**

HMO licence with no more than five bedrooms – Part 1	£1059.00	Part 1 fee payable at the time of application together with additional bedroom fee if property has more than five bedrooms.
HMO licence with no more than five bedrooms – Part 2	£279.50	Part 2 fee payable at the draft licence is consulted on and before final licence issued.
HMO licence with no more than five bedrooms - full fee paid on application	£1,311.00	Reduced cost for licensing an HMO if applicant pays the full fee at the time of the application.
Additional bedroom charge	£27.50	Fee for each additional bedroom above five.

**HMO licensing (renewal applications)**

HMO licence renewal with no more than five bedrooms – Part 1	£838.00	Part 1 fee payable at the time of application together with additional bedroom fee if property has more than five bedrooms.
HMO licence renewal with no more than five bedrooms – Part 2	£279.50	Part 2 fee payable at the draft licence is consulted on and before final licence issued.
HMO licence renewal with no more than five bedrooms - full fee paid on application	£1090.00	Reduced cost for licensing an HMO if applicant pays the full fee at the time of the application.

**Food hygiene and safety**

Issue of certificate following surrender of food (plus disposal costs)	£84.50/hr	First hour charged at £84.50/hr. Subsequent hours charged at £56.00/hr. Charge, including disposal cost will be invoiced following work.
Food export health certificate	£87.00/hr	First hour charged at £87.00/hr. Subsequent hours charged at £56.00/hr. Charge will be invoiced following work.
Letter confirming food premises registration	£33.00	Cost per letter/confirmation.
Food Hygiene Rating Scheme Rescoring Visit	£203.50	Cost per re-inspection. Ratings could go up or down following the re-inspection, depending on the inspector’s findings.

**Miscellaneous Charges**

Public health burials	£87.00/hr	First hour charged at £87.00/hr. Subsequent hours charged at £56.00/hr. Charge will be invoiced following work.
Letter confirming HMO registration	£33.00	Cost per letter/confirmation and only applicable after a complete application has been received.
Housing advice visit	£369.50	Cost per visit.

**Private Water Supplies**

Granting of authorisation	£115.50/hr	First hour charged at £115.50/hr. Subsequent hours charged at £64.00/hr. Charge, including additional sampling analysis costs, will be invoiced following work.
