Members' Allowances

Councillors are entitled to claim allowances as set out in the Members' Allowances Scheme. This Scheme is reviewed, usually each year, by the Independent Remuneration Panel, whose recommendations are submitted to Council for consideration and adoption.

Details of the allowances payable can be found in Part 6 of the Council's Constitution.

All Members receive a basic allowance. In addition some Members receive, under that scheme, a Special Responsibility Allowance to recognise additional duties and responsibilities.

Each year, the Council also publishes a list of the total allowances including travel and subsistence claims paid to each Member.
