Business Improvement Districts (BIDs)

Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) is a public-private partnership in which businesses within a defined area of the district pay an additional levy to fund improvements.

 Bishop's Stortford Business Improvement  was voted in by businesses in July '18 and is in the process of being set up.

Every business in the Bishop's Stortford town centre BID area is required to pay a levy which is in addition to Business Rates and needs to be paid separately (regardless of how you pay the Business Rates).

Prompt payment will help ensure that the objectives that were voted for in the business plan come to fruition.
You can pay the levy in the following four ways. Please always quote your BID account reference

Telephone Payments

You can pay by debit or credit card by calling us on the phone number 01279 655261 during office hours. You will need your reference number which is shown on you BID bill, and your debit/credit card details.

  • Bank Giro Credit. Compete a Bank Giro Credit Slip at your bank and make a payment to the Council.
  • Sort Code - 60 02 36
  • Account Number - 52507637

You will need to quote your reference number which is shown on you BID bill

BACS Payments

Create a new payee using the following details

  • Sort Code - 60 02 36
  • Account Number - 52507637

Postal Payments

You can send us a cheque. Write 'A/C payee' down the centre of your cheque and make it payable to East Herts Council. Write your BID reference number on the back of your cheque and send it to East Herts Council, Wallfields, Pegs Lane, Hertford, Herts SG13 8EQ.

We cannot accept cheques with future dates on or cheques made payable to someone else. Don't post cash through our letter boxes.
