Due to two town councillor resignations, there will be two by elections for the Bengeo North and Castle wards for Hertford Town Council on Thursday 19 September 2024.

If you live in these wards, you need to be registered to vote by 23:59 on Tuesday 3 September 2024. If you received a poll card for the parliamentary election on 4 July 2024 then you will likely already be registered to vote.

If you can’t vote in person, you can apply for a postal vote or a proxy vote. The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday 4 September 2024. The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 5pm on Wednesday 11 September 2024.
You will need to provide Photo ID in order to vote at the polling station. If you do not have an accepted photo ID, you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate. The deadline to apply is 5pm on Wednesday 11 September 2024.
