Walking and cycling routes are set to improve across East Herts as work starts on the district's Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP).
East Herts Council has been awarded a grant worth over £126,000 by the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). This will be used to fund a major new initiative to improve knowledge and information about air quality, raise awareness of air pollution as a health issue, and promote alternatives to car travel.
Opportunities to create new wildflower meadows have been identified across the district to help boost habitats for a variety of wildlife - including pollinating insects such as bees, butterflies, flies, moths and beetles that are in decline.
Proposals that would save money and boost the district’s recycling rate will be considered by the council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee tonight (Tuesday, 20 September).
East Herts residents have a new opportunity to come together to invest in renewable technology through a group-buying scheme for solar panels and battery storage launching today.
