About the Old River Lane Development

The vision for Old River Lane is to deliver a high quality, mixed-use scheme of exceptional design that contributes to the vibrancy of Bishop's Stortford and complements the uniqueness of our historic market town.

Cityheart have been appointed by The Council to develop the scheme on our behalf and the key elements we want to see delivered are:

  • New housing
  • New retail and office space
  • A new public square with flexible uses
  • A development which fits into the overall character of Bishop’s Stortford

We are expecting Cityheart to submit a full planning application in 2025 and a key condition of this will be that they undertake collaborative masterplanning with stakeholders on the overall scheme.

Throughout August 2024 and until the middle of September, we will also be consulting with residents on the proposed public square, its overall design, layout and what sort of events or activities it could be used for.
