Businesses impacted by Covid-19 restrictions earlier this year, and those that have yet to receive support through other schemes, may be eligible for a financial boost from a new discretionary grant fund.

The grant is a one-off payment available to businesses that were affected by the Covid-19 restrictions in place from 12 April 2021 – including self-isolation – or were ineligible for support from previous schemes.

The categories are:

•    Personal services (beauty, hair, grooming, body care and aesthetics, and wellbeing services) allowed to open on 12 April 2021, but were still subject to social distancing regulations which impacted on capacity until 19 July 2021.
•    Businesses that can demonstrate they had to close for a period of time since 12 April 2021 due to staff having to isolate.
•    Suppliers to the travel and/or hospitality industries that can demonstrate a significant reduction in turnover during Covid-19, and have not received grant support.
•    Businesses that have not been eligible for any other grant schemes and have suffered a significant reduction in turnover.

Councillor Geoffrey Williamson, executive member for finance said, “We’re committed to supporting our business community to thrive and putting them on the road to recovery from the pandemic is central to that commitment.

“This is likely to be the final support scheme of its kind so I urge businesses that are eligible to get in touch and apply today.”

The deadline for applications is Monday, 13 December 2021 at 5pm. More information can be found on the council’s website.
