Growth Through Sustainability Conference
East Herts Council has teamed up with eight other local authorities to host a free event, ‘Growth Through Sustainability’, to help businesses across Hertfordshire understand how by lowering emissions, they can not only save on major costs but also reduce their carbon footprint.

Funded by the Hertfordshire Health Protection Board, the event will give advice on steps businesses can take now to improve efficiencies and reduce their emissions; as well guidance on trading safely within any Covid-19 restrictions or guidelines that apply to different sectors.  Go greener, increase productivity and reduce costs will be the key themes.  Attendees will also be given information about various funding streams available to help create low carbon workplaces.

Planet Mark, who recently featured at Cop 26 in Glasgow with their Carbon Battle Bus, will open the event to explain more about the ‘Roadmap to Zero’, help dispel myths and explain the jargon behind terms such as carbon neutrality and net zero.

Other guest speakers will give details about the support networks and funding they obtained to help them develop sustainability plans; and will share their experiences, the challenges they faced and what they did to overcome them.

Speaking about the event, Executive Member for Environmental Sustainability at East Herts Council, Cllr Graham McAndrew said:

“We must all play our part to reduce our carbon footprint and we want to help businesses across Hertfordshire to understand how they can drive forward sustainable plans, which will not only reduce their emissions, but bring them cost and efficiency savings too.

“This is a great opportunity for our business communities to come together, learn from each other and work together to reduce the overall carbon footprint generated across our County.

“This event is for any business, large or small, and I would encourage as many businesses as possible across East Herts to take up the opportunity to learn more about some of the very simple steps they can take now to reduce their footprint and benefit from cost savings too.”

‘Growth Through Sustainability’ will be held at The Fielder Centre at Hatfield Business Park on 11 February 2022.  Businesses in East Herts can register for free.  For further information and to register your place visit https://growthroughsustainability.eventbrite.co.uk
