Love Parks Week occurs annually and exists to highlight the efforts of volunteers and park workers that contribute year-round to the management, conservation and enhancement of parks and open spaces across the country. It is an opportunity to find out more about the integral part our ‘Friends of..’ groups and others play in ensuring our parks and open spaces can be enjoyed by all.
This year, residents can get involved in activities such as; fishing, face painting, fitness and nature trails, guided walks and bug hunts. Furthermore, in addition to an opportunity to “meet the cattle”, where residents can find out about the role of wildlife in the maintenance of Pishiobury Park, there will once again be a dog show with prizes to be won at Southern Country Park.
Sarah Hopewell, Executive Member for Wellbeing, said, “Following the success of last summer’s widely enjoyed Love Parks Week events at Southern Country Park and Pishiobury Park, I am delighted to be able to invite residents back to these beautiful spaces for two more memorable afternoons.
We are fortunate to boast a variety of incredible parks and open spaces in our district, not least of all Southern Country Park and The Ridgeway, which have previously been presented with Green Flag Awards. As such, Love Parks Week, and these events, present the perfect opportunity for families to get outdoors, get active and make new memories at the start of the school summer holidays.”
