The café is operated by Charles and Sofia Erleigh, the couple behind Smoke BBQ Kitchen in Hockerill Street. Their ‘keep it local’ ethos means they source as much as possible from local, independent suppliers. Café customers can therefore expect to find:
• Coffee and teas from Hessian Coffee
• Deli and bakery counter goods from The Village Bakery
• Craft beer on tap from The Belgian Brewer
• Crockery and catering supplies from MTPS Bar & Tableware
Sofia Erleigh said: “It’s fantastic to have quality local suppliers on our doorstep and to work with people who share our enthusiasm and drive. These suppliers have been instrumental in the success of the café so far. In the run up to opening, they conducted coffee training, installed the beer tap, organised bakery item tastings and delivered crockery – all at the same time as building work and staff training were taking place.”
Councillor Vicky Glover-Ward, East Herts Executive Member for Planning and Growth said: “Local sourcing provides fresher products, maximises economic benefits and reduces environmental impacts, so it’s terrific to see local businesses forming a community and working together. The Terrace Park Café & Kitchen, with its welcoming vibe and delicious food, is a wonderful new amenity for the whole community and draws people into the redeveloped Castle Park.”
The Terrace Park Café & Kitchen is open daily, providing a space for residents to meet and enjoy Castle Park, whatever the weather. The wide-ranging menu includes hot food, pizzas, cakes and pastries as well as open sandwiches, quiches and salads at the deli counter. It’s licensed to serve alcohol and dogs are welcome.
