East Herts District Council is pleased to update on a series of improvements to Northgate End Car Park in Bishop’s Stortford, aimed at enhancing the facility’s appearance, accessibility, and overall user experience.

The works underway include a fresh coat of paint throughout the car park, brightening the space and improving visibility for visitors. As of yesterday, new artwork has been installed around the car park, adding pops of colour, highlighting some incredible local artists and making the car park a more welcoming environment. Looking ahead, the council is making plans to install automatic doors, further improving accessibility for all users.

Cllr Tim Hoskin, Executive Member for Environmental Sustainability, said: “Northgate End Car Park is an important gateway to Bishop’s Stortford, and these improvements demonstrate our commitment to ensuring it is a safe, welcoming, and accessible space for residents and visitors. The addition of new artwork and plans for automatic doors align with our wider efforts to enhance our public facilities to increase usage. Particular thanks to Cllr Yvonne Estop, who has worked pulling together the artistic inputs from the local area.”

These enhancements, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, are part of East Herts District Council’s ongoing investment in local infrastructure, ensuring that public facilities meet the needs of the growing community.
