A new Reformer studio is set to open in early spring at Hartham Leisure Centre, as operator Everyone Active introduces its second dedicated facility nationwide.

Construction work began in January to convert some existing changing rooms into the purpose-built studio, which will feature 18 Reformer machines, with classes expected to start in mid March.

The £147,000 project, funded by Everyone Active, marks the leisure operator's second Reformer studio in the region, following the successful launch of their first location in Hitchin.

The addition at Hartham Leisure Centre, which Everyone Active manages in partnership with East Herts District Council, is part of the company’s commitment to expanding innovative fitness offerings for local communities.

Reformer is performed on a specialist machine with adjustable resistance and a moving platform, providing a versatile workout that can be tailored to suit individual fitness levels.

Popular for its ability to strengthen the core, improve flexibility and assist with rehabilitation, the exercise is suitable for people of all ages and abilities.

Dan Humphries, Everyone Active’s Contract Manager, said: "We’re excited to bring Reformer to Hartham Leisure Centre and make this versatile workout accessible to the local community.

“Reformer truly is for everyone, whether you’re just starting your fitness journey, looking to enhance your routine, or recovering from an injury. The Reformer machine’s adaptability ensures sessions can be as gentle or challenging as needed, making it an ideal option for people of all ages and fitness levels."

Councillor Sarah Hopewell, executive member for wellbeing at East Herts Council, said: "It’s great to see the fitness offering at Hartham Leisure Centre expanding once again. Since the improvements and extension, we have been working with Everyone Active to continue to look at ways to improve the facilities and the feedback from users about how they would like to exercise. Reformer is becoming more and more popular and offers a great way for people to get active in a way that can be flexible depending on ability.”

The new studio will provide two class options to cater to varying fitness levels:

  • Reformer FitCore: FitCore focuses on full-body strengthening using Pilates inspired movements. These classes offer an accessible introduction to Reformer for all abilities.
  • Reformer Ignite: Aimed at participants seeking a more advanced workout, Ignite incorporates full body training at a higher intensity. Sessions can be adapted to individual fitness levels and goals.

Further details about the studio's grand opening will be announced closer to the launch date.
